 Community Spotlight: Evergreen Flowers & Decor
Flowers can actually improve your quality of life. If you don’t believe that ask Cami Pruss, owner of Evergreen Flowers and Décor in Santa Claus.
“Flowers are a big expression of your feelings,” said Cami. “Studies have shown that flowers make your body produce endorphins which positively affect your mood.”
“Plus, there is nothing else like sending something alive.”
Cami, with the help of her husband Ken, opened Evergreen Flowers in March of 1999. Initially Cami sold flowers and gifts. Over the years business has increased to include an additional Christmas Shop, balloons, candy, garden statues, and Santa Claus, IN logo merchandise. Cami also does custom work for people, going into homes and creating custom floral arrangements.
“We are always looking for ways to attract people into the shop,” Cami said. “That’s why we have added dry-cleaning drop off and pick up.”
Evergreen Flowers has teamed with 29 year-old Hilgers Laundry out of Tell City to provide dry-cleaning services to area residents. Items can be dropped off Monday through Friday and there is normally a one day turn around.
“The cost is half of what Clayton’s charges and if you need something the next day and get it here before 2 p.m., we can get it back the next day.”
Cami graduated from the Pittsburgh Floral Academy and has worked in the floral industry for over 15 years. She feels fortunate to have had such experienced people work for her since opening Evergreen.
“It can be stressful,” Cami commented. “There are big demands on certain days. The biggest days for flower shops are Valentine’s Day with the second biggest day being Mother’s Day.”
Evergreen Flowers is located in the stone building directly across from Holiday Foods. Flowers can be delivered for a charge.
